TRIP TO GERMANY

This year I went on a study trip to Germany. Here we came across some lovely projects that I would like to share with you, enjoy!

The first project that caught my attention is the museum complex Quadrat Bottrop. It consists of the Josef Albers Museum, rooms for special exhibitions as well as the historical and archeological museum. The shape of the building captures the square within a square principle of Josef Albers just like the lighting in the grid ceiling.. As you can tell from the pictures, the museum creates other atmospheres in the different exhibition rooms. The Joseph Albers museum feels spacious and modern, while the

historical exhibition feels more warm and authentic. In this exhibition I loved the details in the wooden furniture. They are simple yet well thought out.

Then we visited Haus Lange und Haus Esters. These two buildings were designed by architect Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe and are a perfect example of the modern building style of the 1920s with its flat roofs, and big rear windows. The rear side of the house has large windows, balconies and terraces which connect the interior with the lovely garden. However, the side facing the street is more enclosed for privacy.

Lastly, we have the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt designed by the architect Richard Meier. The site consists of a park, a villa and a new architectural building. This new building is connected to the villa through a glass corridor on the first floor, merging old and new architecture and creating a view on the inner courtyard and surrounding park. The new building with its glass facade also connect the interior with the museum's surroundings.
