The next style in my design styles series is probably my all-time favourite. Scandinavian design is a style that I incorporated in all my designs last year. I got a lot of inspiration from existing interiors and used furniture from brands such as muuto design, Ferm Living and HAY.
Scandinavian design is characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality. The furniture, for example, is more simplistic and cleaner than the maritime beach style I showed last week. Scandinavian design flourished in the Nordic countries such as Copenhagen, Sweden, Norway, Denmark etc. but made its entrance in other countries as well.
When looking at a Scandinavian interior you find lots of beautiful elements such as sheep skins, handcrafted decorations, knitted blankets, storage baskets and natural oak furniture. The interior contains some beautiful silhouettes in furniture and decoration like rounded edges on tables and stools.
We also see a lot of white walls and grey tones. Sometimes matt black cabinets or other furniture in pastel tones, such as seating, to give the interior a playful touch.
